Three winners of Best of Breed in Westminster Dog Show
The show is over and the results are in. This is the best of the best at the Westminster Dog Show in Madison Square. The excitement was on as the breeds came out and displayed their beauty. The following are the top three winners of the night. These are the best of the best in what they do.
The judge for Best in Show was the former President of the Canadian Kennel Club, Dr. Richard Meen.
At the end of night two, the award for the 2016 Best in Show was given to CJ, a German Shorthaired Pointer, owned by Valerie Atkinson, Alice Manning, and Yvonne Hassler-Deterding. This beautiful dog was born on January 16, 2013. Runner-up was a sporting dog, a Clumber spaniel named Man of Steel.
CJ´s owner, Valerie Atkinson said, “I couldn't believe it, pinch me.” Many had placed their bets on a gorgeous Shi Tzu named Panda, which was actually a strong opponent. With his impeccable hair carefully groomed, Panda ended up the night with no big prize except in the Toy category.
The other categories included:
- Best of Group – Working. In this category, the first place went to a Samoyed breed named Ham.
- Best of Group – Terrier. This was definitively a tough one as many bets were placed here. The winner in this category was a Sky Terrier named Charlie
The Best of Group – Terrier was the last category to be announced before Dr. Meen announced the Best in Show award, which went to CJ, a German Shorthaired Pointer. All the finalists from days 1 and 2 had a final round before the winner was announced.
